Organizational Synopsis:

SAP-Nepal is a non-government support organization working for the capacity building of development organizations. Since its inception in 1985, it has developed its own approach to sustainable development from first hand grassroots experience. It has always promoted building the capacity of those working at the grassroots level for poverty alleviation. Having served as a donor agency for a decade, it officially assumed the role of a national NGO in 1994. It firmly believes that as a national organization it can contribute more directly to the pursuit of developing human potential. Its aim is to tap such human resources and create opportunities for the marginalized to reach decision-making levels. It is a member of the South Asia Partnership System that is a chain of five organizations working for development in South Asia. SAP Nepal's redefined goals, after being a NGO from a donor's role for decade are to promote the potentialities of disadvantaged groups (DAG) towards their human development; promotion of equitable accesses to resources and economic opportunities for pro-poor and promotion of pro-people governance at the societal as well as national level. SAP Nepal has introduced some social development as well as some financial services programs in its activities that are mainly savings, loans, and financial support Services. Apart from that, the non-financial services are mostly technical support, such as advocacy, networking, and promotion of governance at both locally and nationally, and capacity development of the NGOs and CBOs with whom SAP Nepal is working.
